Established
in 1966, River Oak Center for Children is the Greater Sacramento area's
largest non-profit provider of behavioral health and mental health services. Every year, over 2,000 children at risk, troubled teens, and their families participate in our programs. River Oak originated as a group home for children who were not doing well in treatment programs outside the home. Given changes in both need and clinical practice, River Oak now offers a comprehensive array of traditional and innovative services through twelve programs operating at four program sites. River Oak is proud to be the only Sacramento-area non-profit organization that offers eight nationally-recognized programs proven by research to produce cost-effective and stable results for children, youth, and their families: |
•
The Incredible Years • Multisystemic Therapy • Multidimensional Treatment Foster Care • Teaching Prosocial Skills • Functional Family Therapy • Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy • Armstrong Substance Misuse • Parent-Child Interaction Therapy • “Outstanding Community Agency of the Year,” California State University (1997) • “Services Innovation Award”, California Mental Health Advocates for Children and Youth (CMHACY; 1999) • “Inspirations Community Service Provider Award,” Child Abuse Prevention Council (2007) • “Exemplary Program of the Year,” CMHACY (2008) • “Mentally Ill Offender Best Practice Award,” California Council on Mentally Ill Offenders (2009) • River Oak is accredited by the Joint Commission (2003, 2006, 2009). |
