River Oak's programs serve children and youth from newborns to 21-year-olds as well as their
families in the Greater Sacramento area (Sacramento, Placer, El Dorado, and Yolo Counties).
Every day, River Oak's programs touch the lives of 900 children and their families at four sites
- close to 2,000 children annually.

Why do kids need River Oak's programs? Many of the children and youth who come to River
Oak are coping with daunting challenges: violence, abuse, trauma, alcohol and other drug
abuse, chronic illness, poverty, unemployment, homelessness, and other problems. Others
may have mental disorders or illnesses that need treatment. Without help, these kids may be
at risk of getting kicked out of school or being removed from their homes or foster
placements. The support they receive during these important developmental years can make
a huge difference in their ability to succeed as adults.
