BIRTH
AND BEYOND (BIRTH - 5)
A home-visitation program, Birth & Beyond is administered through
the Dunlap Family Resource Center which serves to identify those
families and children experiencing serious emotional and behavioral
problems. A variety of skilled and highly trained professionals
are part of multi-disciplinary teams offering a range of services
based on family need. Child Development specialists, family advocates,
nurses, alcohol/drug mental health and child abuse treatment specialists,
and other related professionals make up the multi-disciplinary teams.
Additional family services are provided, including housing and financial
assistance, mental health counseling, and opportunities for educational
advancement.
BUILDING
BLOCKS (BIRTH - 6)
This program targets infants and toddlers suffering from developmental
and behavioral problems, psychological trauma, or attachment disorders
and who may be at risk of being removed from their home. Through
coaching and mentoring, parents learn how to understand their child’s
cues and behaviors and then improve their ability to respond, ultimately
helping to develop the child’s relationship-building and life
skills, and minimizing the occurrence of child abuse and neglect.
BUILDING BLOCKS FOSTER SUPPORT (BIRTH - 6)
In the program, foster parents are trained and supported to act
as therapeutic partners of the intervention team, which develops
and carries out an individualized treatment plan supporting the
child’s stabilization, positive growth, and chances to succeed
in life. Better reunification rates are expected for those infants
and toddlers who are returned to their homes and higher rates of
permanent placements are observed among those who are not reunited.
