EXECUTIVE MANAGEMENT TEAM

Mary C. Hargrave, Ph.D.

President and Chief Executive Officer

A 1967 honors graduate of California State University, Sacramento, Mary Hargrave earned her Ph.D. at the University of Washington in Seattle in 1972, then went on to do post-doctoral work at Lackland Air Force Base in Texas, becoming the first woman psychologist in the U.S. Air Force. Dr. Hargrave joined River Oak in 1985; under her direction the agency has grown to be one of the Greater Sacramento area's most comprehensive, full-service mental health systems dedicated to the protection, treatment and healing of emotionally challenged children.

Laurie Clothier

Senior Vice President, Finance and Planning

Laurie Clothier has a B.A. from California State University, Chico. She has been with River Oak Center for Children for 22 years, and has served in a number of positions before becoming Vice President of Finance and Business Support. As well as serving as Financial Vice President, she remains an ardent and active volunteer with the children at River Oak.

John Holmes

Senior Vice President, Intensive In-Home Division

John Holmes has an MS from the California State University, Sacramento, and an MBA from Pepperdine University. As a licensed Marriage Family Therapist, he has served in a variety of capacities at River Oak Center since 1998. John has over 20 years of counseling experience. He is an adjunct faculty at Chapman University in Sacramento in the Marriage Family Counseling Program.

Amy Fierro

Vice President, Outpatient Services

Amy Fierro has been with River Oak Center for Children since 1998. Amy was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area. A licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, she graduated Magna Cum Laude with a B.A. in Psychology from Azusa Pacific University, and received her M.A. Degree from Fuller Seminary School of Psychology in Pasadena, California. While at River Oak, Amy has served in a host of positions. She and her husband are the proud parents of two young children.

Sheila Self

Vice President, Early Intervention and Prevention

Sheila Self, M.Ed., has worked in Northern California for the last six years prior to joining River Oak as an administrator for children's mental health and social service programs. Mrs. Self has thirteen years experience in early childhood intervention and prevention services. Her passion is working with families with young children and supporting the growth and competencies that develop during those formative years. Additionally, she has operated programs for children at risk for entrance into the juvenile justice system and children with developmental delays and mental health issues.

Shiela holds a Master's Degree from the University of Texas, Tyler, in Special Education and a Bachelor's Degree from Stephen F. Austin State University. She has received certification in the Brazelton Neonatal Behavioral Assessment Scale which assesses competencies in newborns and infants.

Jaynette Underhill

Vice President of Compliance and Quality Management

Jaynette Underhill has B.A degree in Management and a Masters Degree in Organizational Leadership from Saint Mary’s College of California. Jaynette has worked in a variety of organizational settings over the past 17 years that include healthcare and behavioral health. Jaynette has held leadership positions in Quality Management, Health Information, and Compliance/Risk Management. Jaynette has been with River Oak Center since 2006 and is the proud parent of a 9 year old daughter.
